We recently started hosting General Partner Office Hours at Renew as a way of providing value to founders while we’re still raising the fund. These conversations have been amazing and not gonna lie, I’m a bit jealous that I didn’t have this opportunity earlier on my founder journey.

This Doesn’t Seem Like You

Paul Armstrong

There is never a moment in life when you will have all the correct data and analytics and facts to make the most secure or safe or guaranteed decision about the future. There is always risk. But that should never be an excuse not to try something new. To reinvent and rediscover, to challenge and improve not only yourself, but the community and country you live. And as that future grows shorter, the more you will want to make it meaningful.

“From where I’m coming from, I was not allowed to fail. So, for me as an investor, as a part of the ecosystem, excellence for me is progress. And progress consists of a lot of failures. If you’re moving, everything is good.”

“If you can help the person with the most problems, you’re going to help everyone up stream. Don't just help the person who has the easiest problem to solve. Empathy is to help those that need the help the most. I hope to bring that to everyone we work with at Renew, from our investors to our founders.”

"We’ve been taught to be resilient, to move forward at all costs. I think that is something that we naturally do. We don’t have to give up our mental health or our wellbeing for the sake of building our companies. Take a step and take a breath, there are tons of people out there like you. Let’s find community, let’s be with each other, let’s talk about it. Don't give up your wellbeing.”

“There are so many deserving founders out there that need a little capital to make the next big thing happen. My personal tagline is ‘My Business is to put Black Businesses On’ and through Renew, I plan to be hyper focused on finding black founders in the B2B, B2G and enterprise space where sales cycles are long and it‘s really difficult to get to that point of product market fit without capital.”

Why did I choose Impact VC?

Mark Hubbard

February 9, 2022

I believe that we all deeply wish to (consciously or not) integrate our work and relationships and time and efforts with what we fundamentally believe to be True about the world and our purpose within it. For me this has meant developing a Theology of Work/Investment/Impact to marry my profession to the larger story into which I feel called.

Everyone at some point in their life will be confronted with crippling doubt about their abilities, like walking through quicksand. But it doesn't have to keep you paralyzed in fear and worry, unable to move forward.

Successfully managing customer relationships is an art form business owners struggle with on a daily basis. Given each company operates with limited time and resources, how do you determine which customers to focus on to maximize your return on effort?
